ASTM A182 F316L Stainless Steel Socket Welded Flange B16.5 SWRF Flange
A socket welded (SW) flange features a socket (or recess) into which the pipe is inserted, allowing for a strong, welded joint. The welding occurs at the base of the flange and around the pipe, creating a strong bond. This design helps to reduce the likelihood of stress concentrations and promotes a more uniform load distribution. Socket welded flanges are an excellent choice for high-pressure, high-temperature applications where reliability is crucial.
Advantages of Socket Welded Flanges
Strong Joint: The welding process creates a strong bond that can withstand high pressure and temperature, making it suitable for demanding applications.
Compact Design: Socket weld flanges can be used in tightly spaced installations due to their compact design.
Low Risk of Leakage: When properly welded, they have a lower chance of leakage compared to threaded flanges.
Easier Installation: The socket design allows for easier alignment and installation of pipes, as the pipe is held in place before welding.
Reduced Stress Concentration: The design reduces stress concentration, enhancing the overall integrity of the piping system.
