1. Basic definition
TP316 and TP316L are both molybdenum-reinforced austenitic stainless steels. They are upgraded and evolved from the 18Cr-12Ni alloy system. By adding 2-3%
molybdenum, the resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion is significantly improved. They are the two most widely used low-carbon/ultra-low-carbon variants in the
316 series stainless steel family.
