ASME SA106 Gr.B Studded Tube
What is a Studded Tube?
Studded tubes are a type of metal tubes. These tubes have studs welded onto the metal tube. These studs are arranged in a specific formation throughout the length of the tube. They are often used in boilers and refineries. As they increase the surface area for higher heat transfer they are used for reheating.
ASME SA106 Gr.B pin fin tube is a cost-effective choice for medium temperature and low corrosion waste heat recovery system, especially for coal-fired power plants and petrochemical plants. Its core value lies in high-efficiency heat transfer performance at low cost, but the coating protection ability needs to be carefully evaluated in high Cl⁻/H₂S environments. It is recommended to combine fluid simulation and coating technology in the design phase, and to clarify non-destructive testing and coating acceptance standards during procurement to ensure service reliability. For extreme corrosion or high temperature scenarios, alloy steel or stainless steel finned tubes are recommended as alternatives.
