The 6061 and 6063 are two types of aluminum. There are some differences.
The difference between the two mainly includes three aspects, composition, use and production technology.
6061 aluminum composition is more than 6063, hardness is stronger;
6063 is mostly used for building aluminum doors and Windows, curtain wall frame, and 6061 is mostly used for welding, processing, etc.
At the same time, the manufacturing process of 6061 is more complicated than that of 6063.
1. Different components
6063 aluminum alloy composition contains 0.4%Si and 0.7%Mg, hard material strength 295Mpa, soft material strength 111Mpa, used in tubular railings, furniture, frames, building extruded profiles.
6061 aluminum alloy consists of 0.6%Mg, 0.25%Cu, 1.0%Mg, 0.09%Cr, hard strength 316Mpa, soft strength 127Mpa, used in corrosion resistant structures, trucks, ships, vehicles, furniture and so on.
2. Different uses
6063 aluminum alloy is widely used in the framework of building aluminum doors, Windows and curtain walls. In order to ensure that doors, Windows and curtain walls have high wind pressure resistance, assembly performance, corrosion resistance and decoration performance, the requirements for the comprehensive performance of aluminum alloy profiles are far higher than the standard of industrial profiles.
6061 aluminum alloy is a high quality aluminum alloy product produced by heat treatment pre-drawing process, although its strength can not compare with 2000 series or 7000 series. However, its magnesium and silicon alloys have many characteristics, such as excellent processing performance, excellent welding characteristics and electroplating, good corrosion resistance, high toughness and no deformation after processing, dense material without defects and easy polishing, easy coloring film, excellent oxidation effect and other excellent characteristics.
3. Different production techniques
The T6 process of 6061 is: the solution treatment temperature is 530 degrees, and the T6 state made by artificial aging is 160 degrees for plates, 175 degrees for bars and plates with thickness above 80 degrees. The T5 status of the 6063 is air-cooled and artificial aging. Small deformation coefficient, easy to control, hardness is general, T6 state is water-cooled, large deformation coefficient, not easy to control, high hardness.
