Stone Paper is an eco-friendly product that doesn't require water or create air pollution in production. It is a completely non-toxic material that is even safe for food. It is composed of 60-80% Calcium Carbonate (CaCO) and 20-40% of a non-toxic resin known as High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE).
The source of the Calcium Carbonate is limestone waste material collected from quarries used in the building and construction industry. It is then ground down into a fine powder resembling chalk, while the HDPE is used as a binder to hold everything together.
The result is a tough, tear and water-resistant paper. It is soft, smooth, and has a bright white colour which looks like film, but without the need for petroleum.
Stone paper is a type of paper made of 80% calcium carbonate (limestone) and 20% HDPE (bio-polyethylene resin). The HDPE serves as a binder, and limestone from existing quarries is processed into a fine powder as the raw material. The natural white color of the paper do not require any bleaching process. It also has a high density, so it is able to retain its shape, and is waterproof, resistant to grease and washable.
Stone paper is disposed and recycled in the normal way. It is eventually turned back into calcium carbonate, and becomes part of the limestone again. This eco-friendly papermaking process makes stone paper a perfect alternative to traditional paper.
"Stone paper" is an innovative material made from limestone, a naturally occurring resource. What makes it so revolutionary is its environmentally friendly manufacturing process, as well as its attractive appearance. Not only does it provide a real alternative to paper and plastic products, it's also just as easily printable.
Stone paper is very similar to polyethylene in terms of its durability and waterproof features, but due to its rapid decomposition, it is just as easily biodegradable. Furthermore, it is easily foldable and malleable, and gives off the same high-quality look and feel as paper.
Unlike typical paper or plastic bags, stone paper bags are much more eco-friendly, as they don't release many pollutants into the environment. Additionally, it can be used as a viable alternative to fabric or jute bags, since cotton production requires a huge amount of water. Lastly, the modern design that comes along with stone paper ensures a stylish appearance.
Stone paper is preferred for a wide variety of applications:
It can also be used in place of traditional pulp papers like Synthetic Paper & Film (Yupo, primax, tyvek, etc...), Premium Coated Paper, Recycled Paper and PVC Sheet.
