Description
Casing Stage Collar
The stage collar refers to a mechanical tool used in cementing operations with two stages. Its main components include a two-stage coupling body, a first-stage plug, a baffle plate, and either a free fall opening plug (for non-continuous processes) or a pump-down opening plug (for continuous processes), along with a closing plug. The main objective of the stage collar is to enable effective and controlled cementing procedures.
1. The stage collar's closing sleeve is equipped with a locking device and an outward-closing structure to ensure a secure engagement when closed.
2. The stage collar is specially designed to prevent any liquid accumulation in the loculum, a small compartment or chamber, during the opening or closing process. This feature ensures that no liquid obstructs or disrupts the proper functioning of the stage collar during operation.
3. To protect the body of the stage collar during drill-out operations, it is crucial for the inner diameter (i.d.) of both the upper and lower sub of the stage collar to match that of the casing. This matching i.d. facilitates the creation of a protective barrier, reducing the risk of potential damage.
4. All accessories of the stage collar, such as drillable rubber or aluminum materials, are intentionally designed to be anti-rotational. These features enable easy drill-out processes, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
5. The stage collar can also be equipped with a pumping-down plug, allowing for the efficient execution of continuous processes.
