Travelling valve and standing valve well tubing pump description:

The pump barrel is anchored on the top by a holder. This type of rod pump is suitable for sand production well since the fluid discharged from the guide cage washes away the sand between tubing and the top of the pump. But the pump barrel is more subjected to inside pressure and tensile load caused by the fluid column, and the plunger clearance will intend to increase during up stroke so the top anchored pumps are not recommended in deep wells
This structure has the following advantages
1. When the rod pump is running, fluid discharged from the guide cage flushes sand sedimentation away
2.The standing valve at the bottom of the pump is apt to immerse in the well fluid, therefore, it is applicable to the well with low fluid level
3.The top anchor mode helps the pump to keep in free suspension state and provides with self-alignment effect, therefore, it is applicable to the deviated well
4. the pump barrel functions as a gas anchor, making these pumps suitable for gassy wells
5. Compared with the bottom anchor rod pumps, the pump is more suitable for oil wells with heavy oil.However, it is not suitable for deep oil wells because the internal pressure and tension caused by the fluid column is likely to cause the pump barrel to expand, and enlarges plunge clearance.
