How to Replace Toyota Shock Absorbers
NO. | Methods |
1 | First, loosen the nuts of the four wheels in a diagonal order, do not completely unscrew them. Then use a lift to lift the car up to a height so that the wheels are just a certain distance from the ground, which is convenient for operation. |
2 | Use the sleeve to completely unscrew the nuts of the wheel in diagonal order, and take off the wheel. Depending on the model, it may be necessary to remove the brake cylinder to facilitate the removal of the shock absorber, then remove the arm fixing bolts, and then loosen the spring arm arm fixing nuts. |
3 | Use the caliper jack to fix the shock absorber arm, open the engine hood and loosen the body fixing nut on the upper end of the shock absorber (not completely unscrewed), turn the caliper jack to lift the shock absorber arm up until the lower end of the shock absorber and the front axle Separate the fixed part, then slowly remove the shock absorber, and then slowly lower the shock absorber arm until the shock absorber elasticity is completely released, completely loosen the body fixing nut on the upper end of the shock absorber, and remove the shock absorber. |
4 | After removing the shock absorber, use the shock absorber spring disassembler to fix the spring to avoid the upward movement of the spring when the top screw is removed. It is best to need 2 repairmen to disassemble the shock absorber, one is responsible for supporting, and the other is responsible for supporting. Tighten the screws. Disassemble and replace the damaged parts of the shock absorber and the rubber shield. Generally, the shock absorber spring does not need to be replaced if there is no serious corrosion or breakage. |
5 | Grease needs to be applied when reassembling the shock absorber to improve the anti-wear properties. Fix the upper end of the assembled shock absorber to the car body, do not fix it in place, just make sure that the shock absorber will not fall. |
6 | Use the caliper jack to fix the shock absorber arm, lift the shock absorber arm upward, make sure that the bottom of the shock absorber can be placed at the front axle support, use bolts to fix the lower end of the shock absorber arm and the front axle together, and fix it the nut for the spring strut arm, then screw the upper body mount nut on the shock into place. Follow the same steps to replace the remaining three shock absorbers in sequence. |
7 | After replacing the shock absorber, fix the fixing nuts of the four wheels in diagonal order (not screwed), then use a lift to lower the car, and use a wrench to screw the wheel fixing nuts. |
