Washable silicone oil is an organosilicon polymer, and its main component is polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and its modified derivatives. Through special chemical structure design, it has good washable performance. The silicon-oxygen (Si-O) bond in the silicone oil molecule has high bond energy, endowing the product with stability, enabling it to maintain its chemical structure and physical properties during the washing process.
- Excellent Washable Resistance
- After special chemical modification, it forms a firm protective film on the surface of materials such as fabrics. When the material is washed multiple times, this protective film can effectively prevent the silicone oil from being washed away by water. For example, in textile applications, fabrics treated with washable silicone oil can still maintain good softness and smoothness even after 10 - 20 standard washing procedures (in accordance with relevant standards such as AATCC 135 - 2018 "Test Method for Dimensional Changes in Home Laundering of Textiles").
- Softness and Smoothness Performance
- It can impart a soft and smooth touch to the treated objects. When applied to fibrous materials, the silicone oil molecules will adsorb on the fiber surface, reducing the friction coefficient between fibers. It is like adding a layer of "lubricant" between the fibers, making the fabric feel more comfortable and as smooth as silk. This soft and smooth effect can improve the quality and wearing comfort of the fabric.
- Good Stability
- It can maintain good performance under different temperature and humidity conditions. Under normal storage conditions (temperature between 5 - 35℃, relative humidity between 30% - 70%), the product performance can be stably maintained for 12 - 24 months. During the processing, for example, in the high-temperature (120 - 180℃) drying or curing process of fabric printing and dyeing and finishing, the washable silicone oil will not decompose or fail, thus ensuring the quality of the final product.
- Compatibility
- It can be compatible with a variety of textile auxiliaries, printing and dyeing dyes and other chemical substances. In the textile processing process, it can be used together with other auxiliaries such as softeners and waterproofing agents without chemical reactions affecting the product performance. For example, when using washable silicone oil and waterproofing agent to treat fabrics simultaneously, it can achieve waterproof function while maintaining the softness and washable characteristics of the fabric.
It is widely used in the after-treatment of various natural fiber (such as cotton, linen, silk) and chemical fiber (such as polyester, nylon, acrylic) fabrics. When used in clothing fabrics, it can improve the wearing comfort of clothing; when used in home textile products such as bed sheets and quilt covers, it can enhance the touch and quality and prolong the service life.
- Dip Dyeing Method: Immerse the fabric in an aqueous solution containing 1 - 5% (mass fraction) of washable silicone oil, with a bath ratio (the ratio of fabric weight to solution volume) of 1:10 - 1:20, soak at 40 - 60℃ for 30 - 60 minutes, then dehydrate and dry. The drying temperature is generally 100 - 120℃, and the time depends on the thickness and water content of the fabric, usually 10 - 30 minutes.
- Pad Dyeing Method: Prepare a working solution containing 2 - 8% (mass fraction) of washable silicone oil, and evenly pad the working solution onto the fabric through a padder. The liquid pickup (the ratio of the weight of the liquid absorbed by the fabric to the dry weight of the fabric) is 60% - 80%. Then carry out drying and curing. The drying temperature is 120 - 150℃, the curing temperature is 160 - 180℃, and the time is 1 - 2 minutes and 2 - 3 minutes respectively.
- It should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse, avoiding direct sunlight. The storage temperature is preferably between 5 - 35℃, away from fire and heat sources. Store separately from oxidants, strong acids, strong bases and other chemical substances to prevent chemical reactions.
