Toughened Tempered Glass Manufacturing Process
Step 1 Float glass is cut to the desired size.
Step 2 Prior to the tempering process, the cut glass is checked for flaws such as cracks, bubbles, and inclusions. The presence of these imperfections can cause breakage during the tempering process.
Step 3 The glass is washed to remove dust, dirt, and debris that could interfere with the thermal tempering process.
Step 4 After it has been cut, checked for flaws, and washed, the glass travels either in batches or in a continuous feed through a furnace, where it is heated at temperatures over 600 degrees Celsius.
Step 5 After the heating process, the scorching piece of glass undergoes a cooling process. During this process, the glass receives high-pressure blasts of cold air from varying angles for about three to 10 seconds. The process, called “quenching,” cools down the surface of the glass much faster than it does the center. Because of this, the interior zone of the glass stays in tension while the surface goes into compression. This combination of competitive stresses is what makes tempered glass so strong.
Toughened Tempered Glass usage area:
Automobile, train, shipping, building, furniture, automatic door, escalator, fireplace, etc. CnC tempered glass is used when strength, thermal resistance and safety are important considerations. CNC tempered glass can be found in shower doors, patio doors, store fixtures and other applications that could be dangerous in the case of human impact.
Quality Inspection Item
1, Toughened Tempered Glass Appearance, In the daytime (or in the case of similar brightness), observe the toughened tempered glass vertically for 5 seconds with naked eyes or with the aid of glasses from a distance of 50cm or a distance of one arm length. No dirt or scratch, edge and corner, printing effect.
2, Printing appearance: the toughened tempered glass printing area (ink covered area) of the control panel is judged under the condition that the back has opaque cover (black background), and under the black background, it is acceptable that the front is invisible.
3, Evenness of toughened tempered glass: bow shape ≤ 0.5%; there is one place (one peak and one trough) allowed for every 610mm of waveform;
4, Granularity test: two pieces of tempered glass are selected for each batch of CNC tempered glass to be tested, and the place where the center of the long side of the glass plate is 13mm higher than the bottom edge is taken as the breaking point (see figure). After the glass is broken, the two areas with the largest granularity are selected in a 50mm*50mm box for counting. The number of crack-free particles completely contained in the 50mm*50mm box must be ≥50, and the largest particle size must be ≤ 15 mm * 8 mm.
5, Impact test: drop a steel ball with a diameter of 51mm and a weight of 535g from the CNC tempered glass surface 648mm, and impact the center of the glass plate once to ensure that the glass does not break.
