Introduction
Currently, municipal sewage treatment plants normally use activated-sludge method to process the sewage, which means continuous and large amount of air should be provided for microorganisms in biochemical stage to keep them alive. The function of the aeration blower is to provide continuous oxygen for sewage treatment in the biochemical stage.As one of the core equipments of the sewage treatment plant,the energy consumption of the aeration blower accounts for more than 50% in the operation of the whole sewage treatment plant.Thus one set of stable, high efficient and energy-saving aeration blower which can supply gas meeting the process requirements is the guarantee of good operation of the whole sewage treatment plant.
Description
Screw blower is a kind of positive displacement blower, which is improved on the base of screw air compressor according to the principle of screw air compressor. with the progress of technology in recent years. Its characteristic is even the outlet pressure changes during operation, the flow varies very little. It is more suitable to use screw blower under the condition of higher aeration pressure.
Principle
The principle of the screw blower is that the parallel male and female rotors mesh with each other in the "∞" cylinder to form the working volume. The synchronous gear and rotor rotate at a high speed in reverse direction, and the working volume changes periodically with the rotor rotation. Thus the gas compression is realized in the gas transmission process.
Different with roots blower, screw blower is with internal compression method. During the air delivery, the cavity between rotors does not change in volume. The pressure is formed by forcing a large amount of air into a smaller external cavity, which is usually called external compression.
When the screw fan aspirates, the cavity between the screws is large and when the gas is discharged, the volume of the cavity will become very small. That is to say, the pressure is formed due to the internal cavity change inside the compressor, not because of the peripheral pipe network, this is internal compression.
The power consumption of internal compression is lower than that of external compression, and screw blower has higher efficiency than roots blower, Moreover, for screw blower the process of gas transmission and compression is continuous and gradual, so it has lower air pulse, and lower exhaust noise and lower temperature than roots blower.
Advantages of Screw Blower
Because the screw blower is a kind of positive displacement blowers, the biggest advantage of screw blower is that it can adapt to a wide range of working pressure, and when the aeration pressure changes greatly, the exhaust volume almost doesn’t change, and there is no surge that is easy to happen to centrifugal blower, so it has high stability.
And as screw blower belongs to positive displacement blower, in theory its air volume can be adjusted within the range from 0 to 100%, so it has the widest air volume regulation range.
Advantages and disadvantages of Roots Blower and Centrifugal Blower
The advantage of Roots blower is that when the rotation speed is fixed and the inlet pressure slightly fluctuates, the exhaust volume remains the same, the relationship between the rotation speed and the exhaust volume remains constant positive ratio, with the characters of high rotation speed, no air valve and no crankshaft, the roots blower is light in weight, and is convenient for application. In addition, roots blower also has the advantages of forced gas transmission, no oil pollution of discharged gas, simple structure, easy manufacturing and easy maintenance.
Roots blower has the following defects: the gas pressure in Roots blower is not increased due to volume reduction, but by means of gas reflux with higher pressure in the exhaust port to improve the gas pressure in the cylinder cavity. Therefore, the efficiency of Roots blower is generally lower than other kinds of blowers with internal compression. Moreover, due to the periodic suction and exhaust, and instantaneous volume compression of Roots blower, the pulsation of air flow velocity and pressure will be formed, which will produce large aerodynamic noise.
The advantages of centrifugal blower are large and continuous gas transmission, stable operation, small unit size, few wearing parts, minimum maintenance work and long service life.
The disadvantages of centrifugal blower are that the friction loss between the gas and the impeller surface is large at high speed, and there is also pressure loss when the gas flows through the diffuser, bend and reflux, so the efficiency is low, small pressure adaptation range which may result in surge.
