Electric field applied between electrodes of a piezoelectric component can result in a mechanical distortion of the ceramic disk itself, due to the so called “piezoelectric effect”, when the ceramic disk expands radially, the whole component bends towards the same direction. Thus when an Ac signal was applied on the piezoelectric ceramic disk, it can trigger vibration of the component and then sound waves are generated.
