What does a car's AC compressor do
A car's AC compressor is responsible for the proper functioning of the car's air conditioning system. Its main function is to compress and circulate the refrigerant gas within the system. The compressor draws in low-pressure refrigerant gas from the evaporator and compresses it into high-pressure gas.
By compressing the refrigerant, the AC compressor increases its temperature and pressure. This allows the refrigerant to release heat more efficiently when it reaches the condenser. The condenser helps to dissipate the heat, converting the high-pressure gas into a high-pressure liquid.
The high-pressure liquid refrigerant then travels to the expansion valve, where it undergoes a pressure drop, allowing it to convert back into a low-pressure gas. This low-pressure gas is then sent to the evaporator, where it absorbs heat from the surrounding air, cooling it down.
The compressor plays a vital role in the cooling process by continuously circulating the refrigerant through the entire system. It maintains the proper pressure and flow of the refrigerant, ensuring efficient cooling performance in the car's air conditioning system.
