Sodium Tripolyphosphate
Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP) is an inorganic salt
with formula of Na5P3O10,which exists both in granular
and powder.
The majority of sodium tripolyphosphate is consumed as a component of commercial detergent, which serves as a
"builder" or industrial jargon for a water softener.
It is also widely used in ceramic, glass, oil, water treatment,
leather tanning,paper and rubber manufacture,etc.
Properties
White powder or granular, melting point 622°C, easily soluble in water. It has got weak alkalinity but no corrosiveness.
Sodium tripolyphosphate has got salient chelating capacity to ions of Ca and Mg etc., and can soften hard water to
make suspension solution become into clear solution.
Sodium tripolyphosphate is a surfactant, and has got outstanding emulsification to lubricants and fat.
