Sludge Introduction: The food waste slurry or organic byproducts are introduced into the rotary drum thickener through an inlet pipe or a sludge feed pump.

Rotary Drum Operation: Inside the rotary drum thickener, a slowly rotating drum with a porous medium allows water or filtrate to drain through while retaining the solids.

Thickening Process: As the drum rotates, the sludge passes through the porous medium. The retained solids accumulate on the drum's surface while the water or filtrate drains through the pores. The agitation caused by the drum's rotation helps facilitate the thickening process.
