Francis turbine is a reactive turbine. It is a hydraulic turbine whose working fluid enters the turbine under great pressure, and whose blades extract energy from the working fluid.
Vertical shaft Francis turbine is widely used in low head, medium head and high head hydropower stations. The water head ranges from 25 meters to 550 meters, usually 30 meters to 300 meters.
