The fifth wheel includes single shaft type and double-shaft type.

Single shaft fifth wheel:

  • It can only make a longitudinal tilt of about 80 around the Y axis. The disadvantage is that the frame is subjected to a large torque because it cannot swing laterally.

Double-shaft fifth wheel :

  • It can make horizontal and vertical swings around the X and Y axes, which can protect the frame of heavy transport tractors under different road conditions. Usually, the two-axle type of traction seat has a large height and a single-axis type, and the lateral stability is poor during the high-speed turning of the vehicle, so this type of traction seat is less used in ordinary road transportation.
