Most NCD IoT sensors are rated for 300,000 to 500,000 transmissions until the battery becomes so fragile that it's unreliable. You can spread these transfers over 10 years, sending 50,000 transfers per year. This will allow for up to 136 transfers per day, or about 5 transfers per hour (for a 500K sensor, or 3 per hour for a 300K sensor).If you only need the battery for 3 years, you can send 166,666 transfers per year, or about 456 transfers per day (about 19 transfers per hour for a 500K sensor). As you can see, battery life is entirely up to you. By changing advanced settings in the NCD IoT sensor, you can control the lifespan. Note that the 500,000 transfer rating is for premium alkaline batteries. All NCD sensors feature high quality lithium batteries that include an ultra-wide temperature range that typically lasts in excess of 600,000 transmissions for some sensor types. These batteries weigh less than half the weight of alkaline batteries and can be used in the refrigerator! It is important to note, however, that putting the sensor in configuration mode drains the battery very quickly. Be sure to configure the sensor as soon as possible and exit configuration mode, or use an external power supply during configuration if the sensor supports it.
