This 90% Platinum, 10% Iridium Wire is the most commonly preferred material for making C. elegans "worm picks". It is somewhat stiffer and less fragile than pure platinum wire. An almost endless variety of platinum alloys can be produced based upon individual customer needs. Alloys are generally produced by vacuum arc melting or induction melting.
