Description

Corrosion Resistance High Density Tungsten Alloy Rivets For Airspace Aircraft

Tungsten Alloy Rivets are a heavy tungsten alloy because they weigh more than twice as much as steel. Tungsten alloys with high specific gravity are usually refractory metals containing tungsten-nickel-iron, tungsten-nickel-copper or tungsten-nickel-copper-iron complexes. Some tungsten alloys have rare earths and/or other metals such as cobalt, molybdenum, and chromium added to them. Heavy tungsten alloy has a high melting point, twice the density of steel, and is more than 50% heavier than lead.

What is Tungsten Alloy Rivets?

  1. Rivet is a permanent mechanical fastener. Before installation, it consists of a smooth cylindrical shaft with a head at one end. The one opposite the head is called the stag's tail. During installation, rivets shall be placed in drilled holes or pre drilled holes. Then "flip" (i.e. deform) the tail to expand it to 1.5 times of the original shaft diameter, and fix the rivet in place. In order to distinguish the two ends of the rivet, the original head is called factory head, and the deformed head is called factory head or male tail. Tungsten rivet reaction block is widely used in rivet gun.

  2. Since there is a head at both ends of the tungsten rivet reaction block installed, it can bear tensile load (the load is parallel to the shaft axis); However, it is more capable of supporting shear loads (loads perpendicular to the axis). Bolts and screws are more suitable for tension applications.

Application of Tungsten Alloy Rivets

  • Fasteners used in traditional wooden boat construction, such as copper nails and fastening bolts work as rivets, but tungsten rivet reaction blocks were used long before the word rivets was invented, and where they are remembered, they are often divided into nails and bolts.
